You’ll learn how to master the camera through our core workshops – four three-hour sessions of practical instruction and minimal theory. This covers everything you need to know – from shooting in manual, in studio and on location, flash and lighting techniques, post-production and editing, and tips to get your start in the industry. If you just want to learn the basics, the Know Your Camera workshop is a crash course to taking great photos in a two-hour session.
For intermediate photographers, we offer workshops in Flash & Lighting, Outdoor Photography, and Post-Production & Editing. Advanced photographers may also be interested in our Portraiture and Fashion Photography workshops, providing a practical exercise in a full studio setup.
Beginner to Pro
Our Beginner To Pro short course is great for anyone interested in photography as a hobby or career.
You’ll learn how to master the camera in four 3-hour workshops of practical instruction and minimal theory – completed part-time at your own speed and schedule with all camera gear supplied.

Course Requirements
This is a comprehensive course ideal for beginners – no experience required.
All gear is supplied – so if you don’t own a DSLR camera, one can be provided for you. (this will assist you in making the right choice when you buy your camera gear)
Booking & Availability
Beginner To Pro is available in group and individual workshops.
Group workshops: Run over 4 Saturdays (maximum intake of 5 students) from 10.30am – 1.30pm,
(maximum intake of 5 students) at 10:30, groups are limited to five students.
Individual workshops: Available weekdays at 10.30am or 2.30pm, or by appointment thereafter, with greater flexibility to tailor your course to your interests. R4200. (schedule each session according to the day that suits you and be able to complete the course at your own pace within a month or less).

Know Your Camera
Our Know Your Camera Workshop is designed for beginners – a crash course in using and understanding your camera in a two-hour session. And if you don’t own a camera, we can supply you with a professional-level DSLR free of charge.
This workshop is one-on-one, with casual, practical instruction. Sessions are available at your convenience on weekdays by availability from Monday – Friday from 10.30am, or by appointment.
Cost
This workshop is R1350. To secure your booking, a 50% deposit is required.
Flash and Lighting
The Flash & Lighting Workshop is an introduction to advanced camera techniques in a studio environment. All gear is supplied, giving photographers an opportunity to experiment with a full studio setup.
This workshop is a one-on-one, three-hour session with casual, practical instruction. Sessions are available at your convenience on weekdays by availability.
Cost
This workshop is R1600. To secure your booking, a 50% deposit is required.
Outdoor Photography
The Outdoor Photography Workshop is a field test in location photography techniques in Cape Town’s scenic city bowl. A practical exercise for experienced photographers, with an emphasis on the composition, focus and lighting techniques typically at play in street and travel photography. All gear is supplied, so if you don’t own a DSLR camera, one can be provided for you.
This workshop is a one-on-one, three-hour session with casual, practical instruction. Sessions are available at your convenience on weekdays by availability.
Cost
This workshop is R1600. To secure your booking, a 50% deposit is required.
Post Production & Editing Workshop
The Post-Production & Editing Workshop is an intro to the post-production process, focusing on editing and colour correction, and best practices for outputting photos for digital and print. Instruction is provided using industry standard software Adobe Photoshop on an iMac editing station.
This workshop is a one-on-one, three-hour session with casual, practical instruction. Sessions are available at your convenience on weekdays by availability.
Cost
This workshop is R1600. To secure your booking, a 50% deposit is required.
Portraiture Workshop
The Portraiture Workshop is a practical exercise on capturing expression and subject lighting in a studio environment. All gear is supplied, giving photographers an opportunity to create full lighting setups in studio on an infinity curve. Students may also provide their own model – bring along a friend or family member – giving an opportunity to create portraits of someone special.
Cost
This workshop is R1800. A professional model can also be arranged for an additional R400. To secure your booking, a 50% deposit is required.
Fashion Workshop
The Fashion Photography Workshop is a practical exercise in a studio environment with a professional model, where you’ll discover the techniques to take your vision from concept to print. All gear is supplied, giving photographers an opportunity to create full lighting setups in studio on an infinity curve.
Cost
This workshop is R2200, which includes the model booking fee. To secure your booking, a 50% deposit is required
Terms & Conditions
Course fee includes use of all studio equipment and cameras. Beginner To Pro graduates also receive a 10% discount on advanced workshops and studio rental.
A 50% deposit is required to secure your booking, with the balance before the commencement of the first session. Deposits are non-refundable.
Payment may be made by Snapscan, electronic transfer or cash. See below for banking details.
Session dates are subject to availability when the deposit is received, as group courses are limited to maximum of 5 students. Group course dates are fixed and cannot be rescheduled.
Upon commencement of the course, any cancellation will result in the entire course fee being forfeited by the student.
Vouchers may be purchased for all course options and workshops, valid for 12 months from date of purchase.
