Course Outline

Instructor David Lazarus is a veteran photographer with over a decade of international industry experience and a love for street and landscape photography and general outdoor scenic photography. With a conversational, practical approach, David will guide you through a scenic walkthrough of choice of locations providing insightful tips and techniques for pro photography in your field of choice.

This workshop is a practical field assessment and refresher on using the camera in Manual Mode, including the concepts of composition, lighting, depth of field, metering, and focus in a rich, scenic environment. Learn how to capture natural light and overcome the challenges of poor conditions to achieve that perfect shot. Let us improve your practical knowledge know where you are able to master your interests in photography.


One 3-hour session, available Mondays to Fridays at 10:30, 2:30 and 5:30.

Outdoor Photography Course

A hands on field experience in outdoor photography techniques in a location of choice in scenic Cape Town

A practical exercise for intermediate and experienced photographers, with an emphasis on the composition, focus and the application to various lighting techniques typically at play in street and travel photography. Choose the location of your choice within a 20km radius of Cape Town’s CBD, alternatively go more local and experience one of Cape Town’s quirky streets, renowned for its coffee culture and people watching.

Suggested locations include:

  • The Bo-Kaap (Moslem historic quarter)
  • Riebeek Kasteel and the Swartland (world renowned picturesque art town and wine makers)
  • Graffiti & the artists (tour of famous artists work in Salt River)
  • The Atlantic coastal strip from Sea Point – Camps bay – Hout bay coastal landscapes (Kalk bay or Simons Town is optional at an additional rate)
  • Groote Constantia wine farm (vineyards and landscape)
