The Town of Kalk Bay
Named one of ‘The 12 Coolest Neighbourhoods Around The World’ by Forbes magazine in July 2018, as a quirky seaside village that is top of its game. This small fishing town definitely lives up to all the hype! Located along the vibrant False Bay coastline, this ocean-front fishing village is jam-packed with bohemian bric-a-brac shops, vintage bookstores, art and antique galleries, quaint cafés and restaurants, colourful fishing boats and more. An eclectic mix of historic buildings, cobbled streets, breath-taking ocean and mountain views, and tons of hidden gems, secret spots, and one-of-a-kind finds. If you enjoy fresh fish and chips, this is the place to start with an early lunch after exploring this picturesque town.
The Home of the Cape Penguin at Boulders Beach Sanctuary
This is a sheltered beach made up of inlets between granite boulders, from which the name originated. With such a beautiful setting and ever-obliging birds you’re sure to get some great photos. In fact the penguins almost seem to pose for pictures, This is a unique opportunity to be at “their home” with a colony of thousands of African penguins as they go about their daily business.
The Cape Point Nature Reserve (where the Atlantic meets the Indian Ocean)
Moving on, we travel along the coastline with its breathtaking mountain views and vistas to Cape Point. It is impossible to fit everything that Cape Point has to offer in one visit, but we will do our best…
We will visit cultural and historical spots, visited by Vasco da Gama and Bartolomeu Dias. This is a place where you will be spoiled with over 250 bird species, Cape mountain zebra and the world’s largest antelope, the eland, among a variety of other fauna. Famous for maritime history, there are even walks that track the 26 shipwrecks around Cape Point. There is a tale that says you should keep a lookout for the legendary ghost ship – The Flying Dutchman!
