Our Story
dlphoto is a Cape Town Photography School and Studio, started in 2007, offering a casual and comprehensive approach to the discipline, we help people find the rewards of photography as a lifestyle and profession. Our aim is to make photography accessible to everyone. With a practical, conversational approach and all cameras and gear supplied, we make it easy to start learning. dlphoto is dedicated in helping a new generation of photographers discover their skill and passion.

In addition, we also offer a fully equipped daylight studio for rent, suitable for both photography and video, catering to individuals and industry professionals alike. With a range of packages to meet the needs of our clients we include top tier lighting and studio gear for both applications. Ensuring that photographers and videographers get the best results, we include brands like Profoto, Elinchrom, Aputure and Broncolor lighting options along with a comfortable studio environment to work. Having been involved in this industry, has taught me the importance of being able to deliver to budget, with the intention of always been to place the client first.

Meet David Lazarus
David Lazarus, founder of dlphoto, has spent over two decades working as a professional photographer servicing both Cape Town based and international brands, as well as notable public figures. Photography remains at the core of what we do. No project is too small or too large; our aim is to guide each brief from concept through to final delivery under one roof while building lasting working relationships with our clients. Photography and meeting people have always been my greatest passions, which ultimately led me to turn that passion into a career. As visual media continues to evolve, dlphoto has also expanded into select video services, including short video content, master reels, and social media cutdowns that support our photography and help clients create strong digital content across their platforms.
