Our Photography Course for Special Needs Children and young creatives is designed specifically for kids with SEND, autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and other learning differences. We provide a calm, supportive, and structured environment where every child can thrive and enjoy hands-on learning.

How Neurodiverse People Learn With a Camera
Photography aligns naturally with neurodiverse learners, offering hands-on, visual learning through clear, step-by-step guidance. It encourages creative freedom, supports movement and sensory engagement, and provides a no-pressure, non-verbal way for people to express themselves.
What Neurodivergent Learners Will Acquire
Each student will learn to confidently handle a camera, understand and use light, explore composition and storytelling, engage with creative photo prompts, practice mindful observation, and receive gentle feedback to build skills, confidence, and self-expression.
Course Outline
Getting Comfortable with the Camera
Introduction to cameras (DSLR, mirrorless, or smartphone), handling, basic settings, and safe usage. Establish comfort and confidence.
Light, Shadow & Composition
Explore natural and studio lighting, shadows, textures, and patterns. Learn framing, perspective, and simple storytelling.
Creative Projects & Expression
Open-ended photo prompts designed for personal expression, focusing on interests, mood, and storytelling. Hands-on experimentation and guided observation.
Editing, Sharing & Reflection
Simple editing techniques, selecting favorite shots, gentle review and feedback, mini-show & tell session to build confidence and celebrate achievements.
Requirements:
Designed for children aged 11–15 and young adults with SEND or neurodivergent traits, including ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, or Dyspraxia, this workshop nurtures creativity, confidence, and practical photography skills. Perfect for beginners or young creatives curious about cameras and visual storytelling, sessions are hands-on, engaging, and delivered in a calm, structured, and flexible environment. Students can bring their own DSLR, mirrorless, or smartphone camera, or use one provided by the studio.
